About Geo IP Route

Geo IP Route conveys a sense of how the servers and routers of the Internet are connected by drawing lines connecting the approximate locations of a list of IPv4 addresses. Keep in mind this tool is for amusement purposes only. In some cases the locations of IP addresses is really inaccurate.

Geo IP Route started as a training project to learn how to use the Google Maps API. Any interesting map application requires a set of latitude and longitude points to put on the map. I thought IP address would be interesting if I could turn IP addresses into latitude/longitude pairs.

Wanting something original I searched around for traceroute and IP address mapping applications on the web. I found a couple of website, but they were either under construction or did do what I had in mind. There are a handful of commercial applications available, but who wants to pay for an amusement?

For details about the application works please read the FAQ.
